Everything here is written from firsthand experience of travelling between the United States and the Bay Islands with a dog. It is not veterinary, legal or immigration advice, and it is not an official source.

Entry requirements change without notice, and the consequences of getting them wrong fall on you and your animal. Always confirm current requirements directly with USDA APHIS, the CDC, the Honduran authorities and your airline before you travel. Where this site and an official source disagree, the official source is right.

Costs and schedules

Prices, fees, ferry times and opening hours are approximate and were accurate as far as we could tell when last verified (July 2026). Treat them as a planning guide, not a quote.

Listed businesses

The directory lists veterinarians, shops and other businesses across Utila and Roatán. Being listed is not an endorsement, we are not affiliated with them, and we have no control over the service they provide. Any arrangement you make is between you and them.

Listings are compiled by hand from public information. If you own or manage a listed business and something is wrong — or you would rather not be listed at all — contact us and we will correct or remove it.

The writing, photography and printable checklist on this site belong to us. You are welcome to print the checklist and use it for your own trip. Republishing the content elsewhere requires permission — ask, and we will usually say yes.
