Ferry to Utila
Utila by ferry
Honduras Ferry runs the only regular service between La Ceiba, Roatán and Utila. If you are travelling with a dog, read the pet policy properly before you book.
Do not buy VIP cabin tickets if you are travelling with a dog.
Two crossings a day from La Ceiba. One from Roatán.
The dog policy
Dogs are not allowed inside the cabin. You have two options:
Outside upper deck
Your dog rides on the open-air upper deck, on a leash, beside you. Shade is limited — bring water and something to sit on.
Cargo hold
If you would rather sit inside, your dog travels in a kennel in the cargo area below deck, away from you for the crossing.
Policies are enforced by individual crew members and interpretations vary. Confirm directly with Honduras Ferry before boarding rather than relying on what happened last time.

We'll also email you when the requirements change. They do change — the CDC rabies certification appeared with no announcement most owners ever saw, and we found out about it the hard way. If something moves before your trip, you hear it from us.
